Dr. Bridgeman has developed a system of healing that includes traditional chiropractic care, neurologic instrument adjusting, and attention to soft tissue and muscular components. These three healing components when treated together will allow for a very fast and dramatic response when compared to treating only one at a time. Dr. Bridgeman not only helps patients but is teaching other doctors in this cutting edge method of therapy.
Dr. Bridgman has developed a complete system of evaluation for an athlete to determine which areas of the spinal column and extremities subluxated (misaligned and fixated or not moving properly) and needs correction. For an athlete, proactive treatment will ensure that the developing athlete will perform and recover at the highest level.
SOFT TISSUE TREATMENT
Muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and fascia are all soft tissues. They can be a source of pain, become tight, shortened and entrap nerves. Dr. Bridgeman is well known in the sports community for treating soft tissues by utilizing what he calls “authoritative specificity”, which means that when treating a developed athlete Dr. Bridgeman utilizes the strength of his hands to “break up” scar tissue and promote healing.
Neurological Rehabilitation: The nervous system is constantly communicating both consciously and subconsciously with your body. Dr. Bridgeman will identify and stimulate nerve pathways that may become inhibited or stimulated. For example, when an athlete suffers an ankle sprain and has to use crutches or has to limp around. While the injured ankle is recovering the uninjured leg, back and shoulders have to work harder. Over time, this will lead to imbalances of the nervous system and the resultant muscles. Once identified, Dr. Bridgeman can make stimulatory corrections to “wake up” or what is called a neurological upregulation to balance the nervous system. This can be especially important with a highly specialized athlete.
Dr. Bridgeman has developed a unique system to evaluate an athlete’s full body mobility and provide mobility prescription with the development of a home care program. This is critical to maximizing athletic performance.
Functional Medicine: With particular interests in natural anti-aging and metabolic disorders, Dr. Bridgeman specializes in looking into each individual patient with unbiased eyes. Utilizing traditional bloodwork and other unique tests like: salivary hormone panel, GI Map, Micronutrient and allergy testing, we are able to eliminate guesswork and confidently move forward with your program recommendations.
Sports Nutrition: Dr. Bridgeman focuses on customizing nutrition and supplementation based on the athlete’s particular goal, body type, and results from testing. For example, an athlete who needs to be very learn and have endurance will be on a totally different plan than an athlete who requires size and strength. Also, if injured, an athlete can dramatically improve healing with specific supplementation/nutraceutical protocols.
WEIGHT LOSS/MUSCLE BUILDING
Dr. Bridgeman’s approach to weight loss is not starvation or dangerous low calorie fad diets. The goal is to get healthy by providing the body with real food and nutraceuticals to promote growth, nourishment, and repair. We have to change the metabolism from a fat-storing, low energy, and injury-prone body to a fat-burning, muscle-building and vibrant human being! This is not a temporary diet program, but a lifestyle program and education that will guide you through the rest of your life. Everyone has a different story to tell and some just need a little guidance, while others may need a total body makeover.
